One Deck Wonder: Thoth

I have been playing around with the Thoth Tarot for three weeks now, so I have decided to commit to a One Deck Wonder with it. The One Deck Wonder is a concept from Aeclectic Tarot. It's just a promise to yourself to use one deck only for a while, to get to know it better. I have developed a bit of fascination with this deck, and so I figured I might as well make a commitment:

1. I will use the Thoth Tarot exclusively, Imbolc - Vernal Equinox (1 Feb - 20 Mar) 2013.

2. I will refer to Lon Milo DuQuette's books, 'Understanding Aleister Crowley's Thoth Tarot', 'The Chicken Qabalah', and Gerd Ziegler's 'Tarot: Mirror of the Soul'.

3. I will blog with Thoth.

4. I will use Thoth for readings for myself and others.

5. I will take lots of notes, but have no idea what they will be about or what form they may take.

6. I will probably end up reading biographies of Aleister Crowley, because I tend to get obsessed with these little projects.

  1. Hilarious cartoon! :D While I may not adore the Thoth, I always value your insights. Maybe you'll get me loving it by March 20th...

    1. I don't know if even I will be loving it by March 20th! Even the DuQuette book, which is said to be friendly, is leaving me feeling a bit slack-jawed. :)

  3. Oh! One Deck Wonder - it's been ages since I heard of it, since I stopped visiting AT! I tried to start is so many times, but I don't have enough emotional stability for that, lol! I love the deck the first day, next day I'm already questioning and disagreeing with certain symbolisms and blah blah blah.

Well, I can say that maybe I've been in a many-years ODW with the Playing Card Oracles, but even in this came I'm rather polygamous...

Can't wait for your future posts about the Thoth! I've always found this interesting, but could never use it to save my life!

    1. Stopped visiting AT, there's a thought. The more I read about the deck, the less inclined I feel to use it for divination. I really cannot anticipate what my feelings about it will be by the time I am done with this. :)

  5. I just got a newish bio of Crowley by Tobias Churton on my Kindle....Not started it yet but the sample sounded promising.... On the cover of the book I think he looks a little like Bob Geldof :)

    1. I just checked out one from the library -- A Magickal Life. I'm looking for most unbiased ones I can find. This one has some pretty good recommendations.
