Boats against the current

Roots of Asia, 2001
'I was so excited, my head was swimming. I felt as if some very tiny, cold, little fish were swimming in my veins. All I kept thinking was, I kept thinking -- you can't live forever. You can't live forever.' ~Myrtle, The Great Gatsby, F Scott Fitzgerald

'Potential has a shelf life.' ~Margaret Atwood, Cat's Eye*

Hey, it's another 8 from the Roots of Asia Tarot! Today it's the 8 of Cups. I drew this same card on Saturday, so clearly this must be something that I need to pay closer attention to. It seems to me I am being called to investigate ways I am clinging to 'old seasons' of my life, and ignoring new paths that present themselves to me.

I should watch out today for things I say 'No' to, considering if these things are actually new paths opening before my feet. I need to be able to 'move freely within and between the seasons that come to me' (LWB).

I believe I will prop this card up and meditate on it this morning.

*Thanks to Sharyn at Quirkeries for a quote that clonked me between the eyes.

  1. Sometimes you are almost haunted by a particular card. I definitely consider that as a sign to dig in a little deeper. Meditation should work great. I also like freewriting or making a mindmap or something like that :)

I just remember that 8 of Cups also relate to : Let go of your emotion , or your illusion in relationship . Love or emotion from the sight of Buddhist is just an illusion which leads to nothing but trouble and unstoppable karma. Better be aware of that Carla :) .
P/s : I just started my journal , come and visit sometimes, please give me some advises . To receive advises from a pro like you is my honor.

Hien has a great point, relationships do lead to much trouble. But also great rewards.
A sterile life indeed, without other people yanking our chain ocassionally.

Your Quirkeries comments come to me without a way to reply personally (you have .noreply.com selected in your preferences) so delete this post if you like. I'm curious why some are saying you've 'left' AT. Say it isn't so :)

    1. Do I? I have no idea how to change that setting. I will see if I can fix that. I did leave AT; I just felt the time was right to do so. I also had my membership cancelled there, because I didn't want to be drawn back in. I don't find it edifying to visit there, as I once did. I found myself hanging too much on the opinions of others, doubting myself because of things I read there, and in general just spending too much time there. So that's why I left. But all are welcome to visit me here. :)

      Thank you for your comment!

  5. Opening ourselves to new paths can be hard, the old paths are so well worn. Still, as you say, that's a great quote. A more modern take on "make hay while the sun shines" :)

    1. It can but I did today. I didn't even realise that's what I did until I got home and had a look at this entry. I'll tell you later.
