Power in the Blood

Soul Cards 1, 2013
Blood here. Blood and leaves. Is this person leaning against glass? Are we on the other side? The hands could belong to the face, but they could also be the hands of unseen children. They aren't the same size. This image makes me think instantly of a song I grew up with, that I still sing, and that still stirs my spirit, though it has many complex meanings beyond its simple lyric to me now.

 Would you be free from the burden of sin?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you o'er evil a victory win?
There's wonderful power in the blood.

There is power, power, wonder-working power
In the blood of the Lamb.
There is power, power, wonder-working power
In the precious blood of the Lamb.

Would you be free from your passion and pride?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Come for a cleansing to Calvary's tide;
There's wonderful power in the blood.

There is power, power, wonder-working power
In the blood of the Lamb.
There is power, power, wonder-working power
In the precious blood of the Lamb.

Would you be whiter, much whiter than snow?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Sin stains are lost in its life giving flow;
There's wonderful power in the blood.

There is power, power, wonder-working power
In the blood of the Lamb.
There is power, power, wonder-working power
In the precious blood of the Lamb.

Would you do service for Jesus your King?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you live daily His praises to sing?
There's wonderful power in the blood.

There is power, power, wonder-working power
In the blood of the Lamb.
There is power, power, wonder-working power
In the precious blood of the Lamb.

  1. Another card really focusing on hands! It reminds me of hand painting or printing as a child. Making your mark.

    1. I'm really interested in what those leaf patterns could mean. Also, when you gaze at it, more hands appear. :)

    2. Yes, I see at least two sets of hands. The blood, leaf-patterns mix is interesting. Makes me think of how our blood and flesh are the Earth of our body, connected to the physicality of all other matter in the Universe. Our close relatives and the more distant ones. And of how our blood contains patterns for our life, in the same way as those leaf-patterns are the 'bare bones' of the leaves... Fascinating card!
