Thoth Tarot & Angel Insight Pack |
It's really interesting to me that the last time I tried this, I drew for one week with the tarot deck, then for the same week with the oracle deck, and was amazed by how the cards echoed each other in appearance and expanded upon one another in meaning. It's happened again for this week. Today's cards, 8 of Disks and Knowledge, both feature trees and suggest patience and slow growth.
According to Crowley, the 8 of Disks 'signifies intelligence lovingly applied to material matters,' to which DuQuette adds 'Prudence is a passive activity. It is calculating. Plant and wait. Wait and see.' This message is expanded upon by the Angel of Knowledge from Astell's Angel Insight Pack. Here we see an angel reclining under a tree, surrounded by scrolls and holding a book, from which knowledge glows upward.
The card suggests something important will be learned, possibly read, that will need patience and nurturing to come to fruition. The most obvious thing would be my recent study of Thoth Tarot and its Qabalistic correspondences. The little I've managed to absorb so far has already begun to affect the way I look at the tarot and the way I read the cards. As my knowledge increases, I have no doubts that it will take deeper root in my subconscious and add new depths of richness to the way I interpret cards, as well as the role they play in my spirituality.
But, the Disks are the earth suit, so to bring the message to the physical plane, I believe this may have to do with being patient with myself in a physical endeavor, a strategy regarding food intake and health. In fact, I do have a book about it, and so perhaps the draw says that today I should dip into it and learn more, in order to support myself in making the changes necessary to my nutrition to follow the advice given in the book. The two cards work together to remind me that any changes I see in my personal health as a result will be a slow progression, not a quick fix.
If you've never tried drawing one each of a tarot and oracle together, you really ought to try it. Adds all sorts of interesting new dimensions and angles to a reading.
[ETA: Well, the day is done, and I did 'okay' with the endeavor I had in mind for today, but something else happened. I've been having to go back several times to have my hearing aid adjusted; on Saturday the NHS audiologist turned the high frequency down to avoid feedback. Things were much improved Saturday - today regarding the feedback. Then today I got home to a message on my answer maching asking me to bring the hearing aids in to trade for different ones with a programme for directional mikes in, which were meant to be programmed to my specifications. Looks like they forgot to do the feedback reduction thing in the right hearing aid, because now this one is squealing like the other one did. *Sigh* There's my health-related patience, I guess. Now I just have to deal with my reticence in calling them tomorrow. I've been back twice with these hearing aids. I feel like I'm whining, like I'll be annoying them. I feel like I should just tolerate the feedback rather than phone. Isn't that ridiculous! I am just going to have to buck up and phone them tomorrow. *Wibble* Why oh why when something is clearly not my fault do I feel like I've done something wrong?]
I particularly like the card on the right, it looks like the angel has opened a book to be attacked by a load of bee's or flys or something. They must be friendly bees as the angel has a smile on his face, they must be bees of knowledge!!! :-) xx
ReplyDeleteHa ha! The cards are very pretty, those details are actually done in silver foil, very shiny. :)
DeleteLovely cards, together, Carla, and lovely reading of them. As has been the case each time I read your posts, I've learned something!
ReplyDeleteAlso, in a funny coincidence, this morning for my draw I chose a Healing with the Fairies card for my center card, and two DruidCraft cards to flank it. The combination gave me something very interesting, which I don't think any of them on their own would have pointed to without the others.
Finally, I found an old post of yours--the only one in which you use the (yuck) Golden Tarot. I left a note there asking if you'd mind if I "read" that draw and left my thoughts there for your response.
Could you take a look and let me know if that's okay when you get a chance?
Thanks!

Hey, I like the Golden! It was just a practice reading, which is hard to do with no real querent, as you have no actual energy to play off of.
DeleteGo ahead and post away! :)
I WANT to like the Golden, as it was a gift, but it's just not giving me joy and happiness. I'll leave it on the shelf for a while and try it again some day.
ReplyDeleteBut for now, I'll go leave you a querent-less reading--and if you get a chance, I'd LOVE your take on it.
Happy Cranky Tuesday. (You don't have to be cranky. I'm happy to keep it all to myself!)

Ooh, yes, I do like the synchronicity between the cards :) Am trying to catch up on your posts in date order - really hope you managed to get the hearing aids sorted. If they've mucked up, they need to sort it out, and it's NOT whiny to ask to have it done right! If you went in and insulted them, that'd be a bit different, but I imagine you being exceedingly polite about it all - almost English, in fact ;) Hugs, Cx
ReplyDeleteYes, there was nothing actually wrong with the HAs, I just have to be more careful with them, turn them down when needed and keep my hands away from the right side of my head!
DeleteGlad to hear it's sorted, it's been quite a pain getting it right! Hugs, Cx
