It's the Princess of Cups today from the Tarot Illuminati (Dunne & Huggens, LoScarabeo 2013). Clearly modelled on the RWS Page of Cups, the image includes the curious sight of a fish emerging from the cup, which the human figure understandably seems to be quite amazed by. There's an interesting bit about fish in the Cups suit at Tarot Teachings. In particular, I like the ideas that fish represent emotion/intuition because they 'move and react according to intuitive instinct', and 'abide by the flow, move with the current, accepting the yawning void in which they live.'
The Cups suit in the Tarot Illuminati features faery-like folk with silver hair and pale skin, as opposed to the other courts(Wands - Persia, Swords - Elizabethan England, Pentacles - Asia). I think this is probably because the Cups suit concerns itself with the intuition and that part of the self that is more fanciful and nebulous.
Overall I'd say the card is suggesting to me that I be sensitive to things today, both to my own emotions and those of others. I need to pay particular attention to the ebb flow of my own inner world. Perhaps some new insight will pop up, like a fish emerging from a cup.
I like this better than some of the other cards I've seen from this deck, but I'm still not going to buy it *staying strong face*
ReplyDeleteI like that about abiding in the flow of life, though the yawning void is a little intimidating *eek*
Go on, go on, go on, go on! ;)
DeleteMaybe if I see it in the flesh, so to speak... ;)
DeleteIts one thing to feel emotion, is another thing to understand and put that emotion into context.
ReplyDeleteThe sea is more than just a big thing of water with tides... it has different type of tides according to the moon, which leaves different patterns on the sand, depending on the currents and the moon's pull different fish come into different seas, different currents take you on different routes across the ocean.
At first what seems simple because suddenly a tiny drop into the ocean of what is really there. This is the Princess of Cups to me, to study the new depths and feel it.
Do you think the Princess of Cups is really that self aware? I think she is more intuitive and go-with-the-flowy.
DeleteI own almost 15 different decks and I make it a point to study each one as much as I can. I really do like this deck. Most of my decks have been gifts from friends or bought by me in special places. This deck, though more modern looking, still holds all the important details and is designed very beautifully. I really enjoy using them as well. They feel good in my hands :)
ReplyDeleteOh and also I agree that she goes with the flow but is also aware of it. If that makes sense lol
